Monday, 15th July 2002 - Andy Green Joins Windjet Supporters Club

Andy Green, who piloted Richard Noble's Thrust SSC to over 760mph in 1997, visited the Windjet display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed over the weekend. Green, the first (and only) man on the planet to break the sound barrier on land, talked at length with Richard Jenkins, Windjet's Pilot, and was given a tour of the vehicle.

Jenkins commented, "It's great to know that Windjet holds an appeal to established speed record holders like Andy - even if he is used to travelling six times faster than Windjet! Andy seemed very interested and wished us every success in claiming the Wind Powered title for Britain to sit alongside his own Speed Record."

As a confirmation of his support of the project, Green agreed to have his photograph placed on the Windjet main sail, along with all the other Windjet supporters.
