On a less then serious note, Interstate 80 in Wyoming between Laramie and Rawlins would be a great place to set a speed record in about December on a North wind day (and probably some huge fun) as this area has some big winds (unfortanetly, its also a major US freeway but dodging trucks might not be any worse than fighter jets?

Pathfiner res in Wyoming might also be a good place for an ice record but it seems that big ice in real windy places gets tore up and dangerous. I think setting an ice record will require a lot of luck.

Richard, when are you going to put up technical details on your craft (like the Iron duck has on the Nalsa web site). I think youve got a great "equation" there and find certian things very interesting. Specifially:

Sail - it looks like you have a three section sail that Im guessing allows some twist? The wind height gradient creates wind direction differences with hieght (even at 5 times wind speed) and it might allow you to sail in higher winds than a sail that doesnt twist as a sail stalled at the tip (drag) but developing lift down low is going to put some nasty forces on the sail - let alone not being as efficeint. Can you adjust the amount of twist?

Rear beam foils - how do you adjust the lift - do you mess with it while sailing (might be difficult in only 2 mile run)? It would seem that you could get max acceleration with a lot of angle at low speeds but backing it off at high speeds?

Specs on lenght, width, sail area, sail shape, ect. I think you had this up at one time but its gone now.. It would be interesting to compare to the Iron Duck since both seem capable of some amazing speeds.

Very interesting craft...
