A few quick ideas for your water based record attempt.
Have you thought of West Kirby - North Wales, this a favourite place for Windsurfer speed freaks. The wind howls aross the water that is kept perfectly flat by a low wall. Windsurfers actually hang over the wall in an attempt to find the flattest water. Other places, Howabout The Trench built by the French in Northern france somewhere, specially for record breaking. Canaries are good, Aruba in the Carribean, Vassiliki Greece, Dahab Red Sea, The mighty Gorge on the River Columbia, are all popular guaranteed high wind areas frequented by lunatic windsurfers.
