Yes, Flaps, etc, do increase the maximum lift coeficient of a wing and give more power, especially at slower speeds. However they also have a drag penalty. In the case of , although I am not going to reveal the actual section we use, we do not suffer from lack of power and it is other drag components of the craft that limit the speed. i.e. More power does not equal more speed, but drag reduction is always good!
