About the Windjet Project E-mail

Windjet is a campaign to break two world speed records using wind power alone.

Travelling at five times the wind speed on land and up to 9 times on ice, the Windjet craft are probably the most efficient vehicles on the planet.



The Records to break;

  • Land: 116.7 mph (USA) set in 1999
  • Ice: 143 mph (USA) set in 1938

Development so far;

  • 2 Years and 3000 miles of testing on UK Airfields
  • 3 Months Ice trials in Canada
  • 1 Year desert testing in Nevada, USA

Top Speeds so far;

  • 106 mph on Smith Creek Dry Lake, Nevada
  • 120 mph on Asphalt (not an official record as not done on a natural surface (Nalsa Rules)
  • Raised the official British land record from 56 mph to 113.4 mph

Project Status;

  • Tried and tested land yacht stored in Reno Nevada.
  • New, faster, but not thoroughly tested Land craft stored in Western Australia
