After spending 3 weeks in America waiting for a permit to use Ivanpah Dry lake, we were unable to secure use of the lake for high speed runs, despite applying for the permit last September. We were allowed to undertake some testing during the recent sailing regatta, but were not allowed to exceed the speed of other 'conventional' land yachts.
Hopefully we will receive the permit before the Autumn (fall) record window (Oct-Dec) but in the mean time, we will be looking at other record locations around the world, specifically lake Lefroy near the historic gold mining town of Kalgoorlie, in South Western Australia.
