On 10th April 2005, Finian Maynard set a new speed sailing
record of
48.7 Knots on a windsurfer.
Finian's next quest, along with a host of other sailing teams, is to
break the mythical '50 knot barrier'
| The previous record
holder The
previous record stood at 46.52 knots (53.5 mph or 86.2 km/h) and was
held by Simon McKeown of Australia in the craft 'Yellow Pages
Endeavour'. It was set in October, 1993 at Sandy Point, Victoria.
