Windjet not attending the World Championships and NALSA Speed Trials
The next two weeks
will
see the NALSA Speed Trials and World Land Sailing Championships take
place at
the the Ivanpah dry lake in Nevada, North America. Although an invitation
to
attend was kindly extended by Bob Dill, the President of NALSA and part
of the
World Record holding 'Iron Duck' team, financial constraints mean that
the Windjet
team are unable to take part.

"It
would
have been fantastic to attend," said Richard Jenkins,
Windjet's
Pilot. "I know that many of the land sailors attending the
championships
were looking forward to seeing Windjet 'in the flesh' and it
would
have been great to beat the Americans on their own soil, in front
of the
land sailing community. Unfortunately, without a title sponsor on
board,
the project cannot financially afford to make the expensive journey
to
Nevada which is VERY disappointing.
However, the
good
side of this means that the overall schedule will not be disrupted
and
we will continue to forge forward with other parts of the project
here
in the UK."
|
This, however, has
not deterred
the team from their three world record goals and Windjet is
back
on standby at RAF Waddington to challenge the land Record on British
soil.
The
Windjet
Team wish the best of luck to all entrants in the World
Championships. Results of the regatta will be posted on the
Windjet
web site as soon as they are available.
