Windjet Goes Trans-Canada
Hoping
that
the several days of very cold weather over the weekend would
improve the
condition of St Mary's Reservoir and Keho Lake the Windjet Team
checked
the ice with high hopes. The weather had not been kind however,
leaving
snow and bumpy ice which would be treacherous for the craft and
Richard
at high speeds.

|
|
Due
to these conditions in Alberta and the reports coming in of
excellent
ice in Ontario, the team made the decision to move across
Canada
to Thunder Bay, on the shores of Lake Superior.

Leaving at
mid-day on Monday, the team set off from Lethbridge fuelled by The
Penny
Coffee and cinnamon buns. Towing the craft, we left Alberta, slowly
crossed
Saskatchewan stopping in Regina for dinner, onwards across
Manitoba, arriving
finally in Thunder Bay (Ontario) 24 hours later.
| We
calculated that we drove for nearly 1,900 miles (about 3,000
km) and
if you wanted to experience a similar drive (not that we
suggest you
really should), try driving from London to Edinburgh, to London
and
then back to Edinburgh non-stop! |

We
would
like to thank Peter Dyck from Flaman Rentals of Lethbridge who
kindly
supported the rental of the 18ft trailer which we used to transport
the
craft. Flaman who have over 60 locations throughout Canada are one
of
the leading agricultural equipment rental companies with products
ranging
from wood splitters to bale carriers and of course trailers.
