Preparations Continue in Thunder Bay
With
continued
light winds expected for the next ten days, preparations are
continuing
for the Windjet team and vehicle.
 |

|
Daily
surveys of the ice surface using GPS are undertaken to locate
deep
snow drifts and pressure ridges which might cause problems to
a
high speed run. These hazards are recorded to allow the team
to
keep track of the changing conditions.

| Holes
have also been bored in the ice along the proposed running site
to
check the thickness of the ice to identify any thin ice caused
by
water movements under the ice surface. This is an important
safety
consideration since most of the fastest runs will take place
far from
shore. |

A number
of technical advances have also been made to the Windjet vehicle
itself
to prepare it specifically for running on Thunder Bay. More details
on those innovations to follow...
